Rachel Walker & Guests
Award winning singer-songwriter Rachel Walker has joined us annually for Fasanta to compose an original piece especially for the textile festival.
For Fasanta 2013, Rachel closed the festival with a stage production composed for the launch of Dunollie's Dalriada Tartan titled 'CLÒ' (Gaelic for Cloth). Local Musicians, dancers, singers, weavers and spinners told the story of our traditional hand woven tweed production.
In 2014, we were delighted to have Rachel compose a second original piece for Fasanta. 'Fighe' (Gaelic for Weave) was inspired by the rhythm, written information and poetry surrounding looms, mills and tapestries - paying particular attention to the story of the Prestonpans Tapestry.
For this performance, Rachel was accompanied by an array of accomplished musicians, singers and dancers including Arthur Cormack, Fiona Hunter, and Archie McAllister.
Rachel returned for our Jewels of History theme in 2015, exploring the story of the Brooch of Lorn and its travels around Argyll.
"I'm delighted to be working on this project in collaboration with Dunollie Projects.
Traditional and newly composed music and songs in both Scots and Gaelic with a fabulous line up of musicians. Very exciting!!"
